PURPOSE : Tulsa Public Schools shall promote involvement as mandated by Title I. We will strive to work as equal partners with parents in providing quality learning experiences for every student, every day without exception. We thoroughly believe and acknowledge that parent involvement raises the academic achievement level of students. Additionally, parents become empowered, teachers' morale improves and communities grow stronger when parents take an active role in educating their children.
Tulsa Public Schools shall involve in the education of their children at all grade levels. The principal shall provide coordinating technical assistance and other support necessary to assist in planning and implementing effective parent involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance. Title I Parent Involvement was established to build capacity for parent involvement within schools. A district is to develop jointly with, agree on with and distribute to parents of participating children a written Parent Involvement Policy.
BUILDING PARENT'S CAPACITY FOR INVOLVEMENT: We believe that empowering parents to insist on improvement and giving schools extra incentives to do so. Giving parents options regarding their children's education will help the district to realize the vision to become the “District of Choice" for parents of the community. As a result of this belief, we shall create an environment of supportive and collaborative parent involvement.
